Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. The successful actress began her career as an actor in the theatre through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. Enthusiastic about acting from the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from the mumps virus, however she did not allow this handicap to hinder the determination of her to become an actress. While in college, she studied drama, she moved in New York City with her ambitions with her sights set. Hunter had her Broadway debut due to an accidental encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After moving to Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered an acting role as a support on Swing Shift. Her career spans more than thirty years and she's appeared in many TV movies, films and series. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
